What I learnt about Rugby

I know, I know, I am risking some friendships here, but what ever happened to accepting people AND their flaws… I’m friends with you, aren’t I??? ūüôā

I have never really enjoyed sport of any kind, let alone support it
But being at Loftus on Saturday changed that…
You can now consider me a fully fledged Bulls supporter… Player 23, if you will

I had the most awesome time on Saturday, all those Afrikaans songs are still ringing in my head
‘n Blou Bul weet nie van verloor af nie… lalala
Aside from the cool songs, the atmosphere was fantastic!!!
I actually¬† think it was this atmosphere which has¬†led me to taking an interest in the sport…

¬†So, with my new found interest came a lot of¬†questions (Yes, I can hear Sam now “How is that different from any other day”)
So, off to Sam it was with my questions…

I¬†learnt that the first 8 players are called forwards (Sam was not impressed when I asked if that meant that the rest of the players were backwards….heehee)
I also learnt that our Full-Back is our last man of defense, that our wings are the guys who are usually the quickest (Habana and Ndungane) and that if Morne Steyn or Pierre Spies had to propose anything to me, I would say yes!!! Just kidding babe… They¬†play good rugby… ūüėČ

So, what does all of this mean??? It means Sam looks at me with Puppy eyes and¬†that my inbox is now overcrowded with Blue Bulls emails….

So, for those of you who despise the Blue Bulls, I have one thing to say to you…

Where’s your team sitting on the log???

Go Blue Bulls!!!

Go Blue Bulls!!!

*Please note, if any of the rugby info in here is incorrect… IT’S SAM’S FAULT!!!!*

Photo Dare

So, Elaine told me how her sister, Jeanette, took a dare to take a photo every day for 1 year, and post it. I believe this is how Jeanette found her love for photography.

I was chatting to Sam about it last night and he is really keen. I think we will first see how this weekend goes at the Kruger, but I assume either one of us will find a love for it too (I think it will be him :-))

So anyway, we were already running late this morning for work and I was rushing around to feed all the ‘children’ in the house. When I was done I called out to find out where he was…we’re late ya know… I’ll give you 3 guesses… He found a spider in it’s web in the garden. Ordinarily he would’ve killed it. Today? He took a pic of it!!!… (I will post it later…)

One thing we have come to relaise is that we will need a second battery to start off with. We still take time playing with the camera before we are satisfied with the shot.¬†But, rather figure this one out now than when waiting for the perfect big cat shot over the weekend…
I know, I know, we will take the compacts with… But I still can’t wait for some decent play-time with the camera… Maybe a walk through the camp taking shots of arb things… When we’re late for something… Just kidding Babe…

Before I get back to work….

Go Blue Bulls!!!!

Although we have a lot to learn with¬†what this Mr can do,¬†we are looking forward to it…

Mother’s Day

Mother’s¬†and Father’s Days are¬†the most rushed days Sam and I experience all year

Why?
We have 2 of each…

As we both treasure our parents, we obviously want to ensure there is enough time to spend with both families
This led to our Mother’s Day, starting at¬†6am
We decided to meet up with Sam’s mom at 7am for breakfast. We also knew that we would like to spend some ‘down’ time at home in the late afternoon too and this meant rushing over to my mom at 11am (they live 80km apart!)

Although we had a wonderful day, I must admit, I am feeling a little drained today

Our solution?
Get both families together for a big celebration on days such as these

We have decided to try this for Father’s Day. At least then we can all eat breakfast at a decent hour in the morning, as my stomach cringes at 7am on any given Sunday morning…

To our Mom's, whom without we may never have made it through first grade

Hello!

I recently had a friend help me set up a blog for a work project (check it out here)

So, when Elaine told me I will absolutely love bloggin’, I didn’t realise to what extent she would be right!

So, here’s a little bit about this blog…

Sam and I will keep you updated about the Mendes Household Antics ie. Sam, Charlene, Rossi, Senna and Zoe
We will let you know what we have been up to!

For starters, we have two min pins (brothers), who think they are masters of our universe

Senna & Rossi with Mommy

and then there’s Zoe, our African Grey, who knows she is master of the universe

Zoe

The 5 of us generally live in harmony, however, there is always a lot of activity within our 4 walls

So, here’s to all dog and bird lovers enjoying our site!

Woohoo!!!
